Belleville High School varsity wrestler Justin Colon won his second straight Essex County Tournament championship last Saturday at Codey Arena in West Orange.
Colon decisioned West Essex’s Mike Marotti, 3-1, in overtime in the 126-pound final.
The victory was Colon’s 145th of his career. Colon’s brother, Filiberto, who wrestled for the Bucs from 2005-08 and won four ECT titles, holds the county record with 156 wins.
Joe Anello also finished second at the 160-pound weight class for the Bucs. Anello was pinned by Millburn’s Simon Levin in the final.
The Bucs finished sixth overall in the team standings with 118 points.
Nutley won its first-ever ECT team championship with 203 points, led by junior Robert Trombetta, who won his third ECT title by winning the 120-pound crown. Trombetta earned his 100th career victory in the final with an injury default win over Seton Hall Prep’s Nick Polimeni.
West Orange was second with 169 points. Seton Hall Prep was third with 153.5 points, West Essex was fourth with 150.5 points and Bloomfield fifth with 143.5.
