The Belleville High School boys’ varsity basketball team won two straight games.
The Bucs used a balanced attack to beat Millburn, 64-54, on Jan. 13 at BHS in Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division play, snapping a two-game losing streak.
Keith Everett scored 16 points and five rebounds; Tommy Rosario had 14 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks; Julian Rodriguez had 14 points, seven rebounds and two blocks and Sharif Dixon had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Bucs.
The Bucs trailed 19-17 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored Millburn, 17-11, in the second quarter to take a 34-30 halftime lead. BHS maintained control in the second half with a 9-6 run in the third quarter and a 21-18 run in the fourth quarter.
BHS then defeated Oratory Prep, 42-39, on Jan. 14 in Summit. Rodriguez scored 12 points and Kamal Miller added 10 points as the Bucs improved to 4-6.
The Bucs lost to West Essex, 60-50, at BHS on Jan. 11 in divisional action. Rosario and Everett each had 15 points and Rodriguez added 12 points.
