On Saturday February 11, 2012 the Belleville High School Boys and Girls Indoor Track team competed at the state North Jersey Section 1, Group 3 Championships in Toms River. 

The Belleville Girls team was lead by the outstanding performances of sisters Kristy and Jamie Bono. Kristy finished 3^rd in the 1,600 meters with a Belleville school record time of  5:33.91. Last year Kristy at the same meet had a time of 5:59.11. Kristy improved her time an amazing 25.2 seconds.…

The Belleville High School boys’ and girls’ indoor track and field teams gave good efforts at the Essex County Individual Championships at Seton Hall University last Sunday Feb. 5.

The top three girls’ team were Newark Tech with 72 points, Columbia with 67 points and Mount Saint Dominic Academy with 38 points.

In the boys’ competition the top three teams were St. Benedict’s Prep with 91 points, Columbia with 58 points and West Orange  with 47 points.

The Belleville High School boys’ and girls’ indoor track and field teams posted solid performances at the Ridgewood Winter Games 1 Invitational at Fairleigh Dickinson University on Jan. 27.

Arnelle Ackon took second place in the Varsity 55-meter dash with time of 7.5 seconds. Ackon  also finished in third place in the Varsity 200-meter dash with a time of 27.2 seconds.

Belleville High School varsity wrestler Justin Colon won his second straight Essex County Tournament championship last Saturday at Codey Arena in West Orange.

Colon decisioned West Essex’s Mike Marotti, 3-1, in overtime in the 126-pound final.

The victory was Colon’s 145th of his career. Colon’s brother, Filiberto, who wrestled for the Bucs from 2005-08 and won four ECT titles, holds the county record with 156 wins.

The Belleville and Nutley high school boys' and girls' varsity basketball teams will face each other on Feb. 17 at Belleville High School as part of a "Pink Out" event in honor of BHS 2000 graduate Lindsay Giordano, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The NHS vs. BHS girls' game will tip off at 6 p.m., and the boys' game will follow at 8 p.m.

The color pink is associated with breast cancer awareness.

The Belleville High School girls’ varsity basketball team won its past two games to improve to 5-8.

Chassity Sousa scored 16 points and added five rebounds and four steals and Tia Silas had six points and eight rebounds in the 47-8 win over Christ the King on Jan. 19 in Newark. Lorena Garcia also had two points and eight rebounds, Rachel Estrada had five points and Alison Samangieo had four points in the win.

The Belleville High School boys’ varsity basketball team received the No. 25 seed in the Essex County Tournament and will visit No. 20 seed Verona in the first preliminary round on or by this Saturday Jan. 28. The winner will face the winner between No. 13 Livingston and No. 32 Barringer in the second preliminary round on or  by Feb. 2.

On Friday Jan. 13, the Belleville High School Boys and Girls Indoor Track team competed at the Paul Schwartz Invitational at Fairleigh Dickson University.

 At the meet Junior Arnelle Ackon took 2^nd place in the Varsity 300 Meters with a time of 43.1 seconds. Arnelle’s time set a new Belleville High School record. The old record of 43.5 was set during the 2007/2008 season by former State Sectional Champion Sherece Shabazz.

The Belleville High School boys'  and girls' indoor track and field teams gave solid efforts at the Tom Zaccone Inviational at Fairleigh Dickson University on Jan. 3.

The Belleville Girls Team was led by Kristy Bono. Kristy Bono set a new school record in the 1000 Meters while finishing in fourth place. Kristy’s time was 3:20.1, the old record was 3:23.8 set by Joanne Campione during the 2005 Indoor Season.
